Thank you God for all the wonderful blessings you have bestowed upon me, I am truly grateful.  Thank you for all the difficult things I’ve experienced in my life, they’ve drawn me closer to you.  Thank you for the challenges I’ve faced, You’ve used them to make me stronger.  Thank you for the times I’ve failed, they’ve humbled me and made me realize that I am nothing without You.  Thank you for the times when things haven’t turned out the way I’d hoped, it makes me know You have a better plan.

Thank you for loving me just as I am, and loving me so much that You won’t let me stay that way!

I don’t have much time to blog tonight, I’m working on our homeschool lesson plans, so I decided to post a few recent photos of my sweet little munchkins.  Since this is Thanksgiving month I’m going to focus most, if not all my posts on things I’m grateful for, so here are four of my most precious blessings!

                   Blue Eyes – Cheese!

This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago when Cupcake and Blue Eyes stayed with us for several days while Natalie and Joey took the girls in their care camping.   Isn’t he sweet?  I love the way the sun is reflecting off his blond hair, it makes him look angelic (which he is— most of the time).

Cupcake – Too cute for words!

Another one of the photos I took during their visit.  I  think she looks more like Natalie the older she gets, she has Joey’s coloring and his disposition, but she reminds me so much of Natalie when I look in those big brown eyes.   I think the expression on her face is so precious!

Ladybug – I stuck my finger in a light socket!

I took this photo of Ladybug last week while she was jumping on the trampoline, the static electricity had her hair standing on end!  I love this picture, but the sad part was every time I touched her I shocked her and she looked at me as if to say “Nana, why did you do that?”  She’s such a little doll!

           Spiderman – You’re the Man!!

What a cute little guy!  If you look at his neck you’ll see his vein popping out, when he’s angry or upset it looks like it will pop right out of his skin.  My son Phillip and I share this trait with Spiderman so I guess it’s genetic, although I don’t think ours is quite as pronounced as Spiderman’s.

Well, that’s my post for this evening, I’m off to finish lesson plans and to prepare for this week of homeschool.  I hope everyone has a great week this week.  Don’t forget to vote!!

Tonight’s post marks my one hundredth post, it seems hard to believe that I’ve written that many, especially since I haven’t blogged regularly over the summer.  I’ve been pondering what this post should be about,  I’ve read some blogs where they posted one hundred things about themselves when they reached this milestone, and while theirs was interesting I’m afraid mine would bore you to tears even if I could think of that many things to post about myself.  So, I decided to spare you the agony of having to endure such a fate and post 10 things I praise God for.

1. I praise God for my salvation, that His Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins, was buried, and resurrected on the third day and is preparing a place for me in Heaven.

2. I praise God that even when I fail Him, He still loves me and forgives me, without Him I am nothing!

3. I praise God for my godly husband, Ashley, for the miracles He has worked in our marriage, and a love that grows deeper and stronger with each passing year.

4. I praise God for my awesome children, Natalie and Joey, Phillip and Beth, and Drama Queen, they are a blessing to me everyday and I am so proud to be their mom.

5. I praise God for my precious, adorable grandbabies, Cupcake and Blue Eyes, and Spiderman and Ladybug, they hold my heartstrings and bring so much joy to my life, I am so blessed to be their Nana.

6. I praise God for my parents and the godly heritage they passed on to my siblings and me, my mom whose is still here on earth interceding for our family on a daily basis, and my dad who is dancing on streets of gold praising our Heavenly Father,  he’s free from cancer and whole once again.

7. I praise God for my wonderful in-laws who have been second parents to me, they have taught me so much both in word and deed, for my sweet sister-in-law (though she’s as much a sister to me as my biological ones), she is such an inspiration to me, and for her precious son, Zachary, he is our special boy.

8. I praise God for my three sisters and my brother and their families,  even though I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like, they are always in my heart and just a phone call away.  I love being a part of big family, and when we do all get together, it’s a happily chaotic lovefest!

9. I praise God for my friends, both old and new.  The friends that I’ve had since high school, who’ve stood by me through thick and thin and blessed my life immeasurably, friends I’ve met along the way who have enriched my life in many ways,  the new friends that God has brought into my life recently that I look forward to getting to know better, and my blogging friends whom I only know through their blogs, but bless my heart every time I stop by.

10. And last but not least, I praise God for my health, my home, food to eat, clothes to wear, my church, that I live in a free country, and the list just goes on and on.

The list is endless when it comes to things to praise God for,  but  I’ll just post these top ten.  What’s on your list of top ten things to praise God for?   I’d love to read yours,  just leave me a comment or a link to a post if you’ve written a similar one and want to share.

Have a great night!

We were so blessed to have our whole family together last night for dinner, Natalie, Joey, Cupcake and Blue Eyes were here for a quick visit so we all got together for some family time.  Beth, Spiderman, and Ladybug came over after the little ones had their naps, and Phillip joined us after work.   Natalie and Joey had some errands to take care of while they were here, so Cupcake and Blue Eyes spent the day with Drama Queen and I and we took them to the park yesterday morning.

Cupcake and Blue Eyes had so much fun, I love to watch them play, they go at it with such abandon.  I took this cute shot of them coming down the slide, I was excited that it came out as well as it did, a lot of the photos I take of people in motion tend to come out blurry.

          Kissing Cousins

I love this picture, Blue Eyes just put his little arms around Ladybug and she kissed him, it melts my heart to see how much my grandbabies love each other.  I feel so blessed to be Nana to my four little munchkins, they rock my world!

                    What’s so funny Spiderman?

Another great shot of the kids, Spiderman usually does not care for having his picture taken, but he is becoming more of a ham and I love it.  He was screaming CHEESE! in this photo and giggling.  It made for a great picture.  Ladybug looks like she’s not too sure what all the commotion is about, but Cupcake just kept right on shoveling the sand into the bucket.

The only drawback was I forgot to take pictures of the grownups, I was so busy snapping photos of the little ones ( sorry guys!).  But, I have tons of pictures of everyone because I usually have the camera in my hand when we get together, so I think they’ll understand that I slipped up this once.

When I stop to think how God has blessed our family, I am amazed, He has been so gracious to us.   I am truly thankful for His love and mercy!

Have a great night!

In honor of Memorial Day, and all the brave men and women who have lost their lives fighting to protect our country.

There are no words to express my gratitude for their sacrifice, they gave their all.  I am so thankful that they were willing to fight for our country, to protect the rights and freedoms we take for granted every day.  I can only imagine the grief their families have felt, or are feeling, and tonight I am praying for their loved ones.

We recently had a young man who lived in our small town lose his life in Iraq.  I was so moved by the show of respect and gratitude our town demonstrated for him.  All flags were lowered to half mast for close to a week, and there were purple ribbons put up all over town to honor this young man.  Many people lined the street holding American flags the day of his funeral,  I hope that in some small way these gestures brought comfort to his family.

My dad fought in World War II, and thankfully he came home safely, but many people didn’t.  My dad didn’t talk much about the war and his experiences, I think it was painful for him to relive that time in his life.  One thing I do remember him telling us about, was how he and the other soldiers gave their food to the local children who didn’t have anything to eat.  They went hungry so the kids didn’t have to, that story has stayed with me always.

No matter what your views are on the war in Iraq, or previous wars, we still need to honor those who serve, or have served, in our Armed Services.

I pray that the rest of your Memorial Day weekend is wonderful, and that you take time to honor those who gave their lives.

Love, Velvia

A new blogger friend, Angela, at The Chillemi Weblog , has put out a challenge to post ten things we are thankful for.  I think this is such a great idea, we are so blessed by our Heavenly Father and we should take time to thank Him.

1. I am very thankful for my salvation, that Jesus died on the cross for my sins, was resurrected, and is preparing a place in Heaven for me.

2. I am thankful for God’s love and mercy in my life, that even when I fail Him I can come to Him and receive forgiveness.

3. I am thankful for His divine direction and guidance.  I know that He has a plan and a purpose for my life and I don’t have to worry about the future.

4.I am thankful that He is changing me daily.  I don’t have to live in mediocrity because He is helping me to become the woman He wants me to be.

5. I am so thankful for His many blessings in my life.  They are numerous, but I will list the five most important ones:

6. My wonderful husband, Ashley, and the 29 years of marriage we have shared.  God has been ever faithful to see us through the tough times, and has blessed us with many wonderful ones.

7. My precious children and children-in-love, Natalie and Joey, Phillip and Beth, and Drama Queen.  They have been, and are, my heart.  I am extremely proud of each of them, they are amazing people and I am blessed to be their mom.

8. My wonderful, amazing grandchildren, Cupcake and Blue Eyes, and Spiderman and Ladybug.  These four little munchkins are one of God’s most precious blessings.  They bring so much joy into my life, I am privileged to be their Nana.

9. My wonderful family: my mom, my siblings  and their families, Ashley’s parents, my sister-in-law and her son.  Even though I don’t get to see them as often as I would like, they are very much a part of my life, and I love them all dearly.

10. My sweet friends, from my oldest and dearest ones I’ve had since I was young, to my new ones I’ve met through blogging.  Each one is special to me, my friends are the spice of life!!

The list is never ending because God has been so good to me.  I am thankful to Him for everything because without Him I would have nothing!

Have a great weekend!

You know how you have those days when all is right with the world, things go smoothly, your heart is at peace, and everything seems to fall into place?  Well, today was one of those days.  I wish I could tell you that I experience wonderful days like today often, but I don’t.  Most days have wonderful moments in them, but you have to deal with the usual hassles of everyday life.  Today, however, was an exceptional day!  I felt God’s peace and His presence with me all throughout the day and I have been so grateful.

I stood at my kitchen sink washing up the lunch dishes and just felt such joy that I began to praise God and thank Him for my blessings.  Spiderman and Ladybug were taking their nap (they stayed with me for a few hours today) and Drama Queen was watching a movie.  It was our last day of Christmas break since we resume our normal homeschool schedule on Monday, and I would normally be feeling stressed knowing I have a lot of planning to get done over the weekend. but I didn’t and it was fantastic!  I was able to just relax and enjoy the day and rest in His peace.

I think God allowed me to experience today to it’s fullest as a reminder that He wants everyday to be a day in which I put Him first and rest in Him, even the days when things go wrong (which seem to occur a lot, probably because of my attitude).  I pray that He will change my heart and my attitude and help me to be more like Jesus.  I truly want to grow in my walk with Him this year, my desire is to be able to look back at this same time next year and know that He has changed me.

Have a very blessed weekend!
